Day & Night With Emploi

Hey loves!  Last Thursday I attended an event for Emploi's 1 year birthday bash at the Raven in NYC sponsored by Double Cross Vodka and RPZL.   They invited a few bloggers to wear one of their dresses to the party and then show how we styled them for the day and night.  I wanted to pick a dress that could easily transition from work to happy hour, so what better than an LBD?

Every woman needs a LBD hanging in her closet.  My favorite thing about a black dress is that it can take you from work to happy hour and all things in between.  For the day look, I wanted to keep it simple but still interesting.  I love the pop of yellow with this bag and this statement necklace helps to make it stand out more.  I went with classic black pumps and a low side ponytail then added my "geek" glasses for more of a sophisticated/studious look.  I kept my makeup pretty simple and added a light pink lip.  When transitioning into the night, I really wanted to show that all you have to do is make a couple of tweaks!

For the night, I let my hair down, took off the glasses and added a bold red lip which makes the look more fun.  Instead of going with an obvious pop of color, I decided to do a pop of print instead with these leopard print shoes.  I added a belt to define my waist line more which also added another element to the dress and I chose this gorgeous statement necklace.  I decided not to use a clutch and went with my mini satchel to keep the whole black and gold theme going.  I played up the accessories a little more creating a bolder look.  I still wanted the night look to have a sophisticated chic feel.

LOVE What YOU Do

Happy Friday beauties!  I hope that you all had a great week.  I wore this outfit this past Sunday out in the city for Sunday Funday.  It was such a beautiful fall day!

I love this shirt because of it's dual message: Love What You Do & LOVE YOU.  

As most of you know, I worked somewhere for 4 years and was completely miserable every single day.  One of the worst feelings is to wake up each day feeling sick to your stomach because you have to go to a job that you hate.  For the first time in a long time, I feel genuinely happy.  I honestly wasn't sure at one point if I would ever be.  This is why I'm always telling people to do what makes them happy and to not be afraid to take risks.  Life is just way too short to be miserable all of the time.  I truly hope that all of you are doing something that you love.  As cliche as it might be, it really is so important to love ourselves.  This is something else that I learned over the years.  Carrie Bradshaw said it best,

 "The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself." :)

As for my outfit, I just wanted something a little casual and edgy.  I love these skinnies from Dittos and these booties and hat are my new obsession.  I know I am so short but I still have a love for big bags.  This color is gorgeous for fall too! As you can see I had a little fun playing with the leaves :)

Fearless Fashionista: How To Add A Pop Of Color To Your LBD

I've mentioned how I also blog for Fearless Fashionista, so every once in awhile I want to share some of those posts with all of you on here.  If you live in New Jersey, I blog for four of the shopping centers: Paramus Park, Willowbrook, Woodbridge and Bridgewater.  So basically any of the fashion and beauty topics that I cover will be focused on items that you can get from specific stores in those four malls.  Every Tuesday and Thursday there is a new post covering a new topic :) 

Today's post is all about adding a pop of color to your LBD!  I created a few different collages with different examples of how you can do this using the same dress.

My Favorite HairStyle With Neutrogena Triple Moisture

I think we can all agree that a good hair day makes us feel great and confident.  That's probably why so many women love going to the salon to get their hair done.  I know that every time I leave the salon, I sort of feel like a new person.  They always make my hair look and feel so healthy. But the truth is that most of us can't afford to have our hair professionally done each week and most of us don't have the time either.  I am all for doing things myself at home and with the right products, we can get that salon feel all on our own! 

I definitely have a love/hate relationship with my hair.  It's really thick and now that it's gotten so long, it takes longer to style.  My hair in it's natural state is really weird... it's straight on top, wavy towards the middle and bottom and curly underneath.  When I let it air dry, it gets a lot of volume but it also gets really frizzy.  I have rarely used any products in my hair so I was really looking forward to trying out the Neutrogena Triple Moisture line.  In this post, I am going to show the step by step process of how I do my go to hairstyle with these products from start to finish.  I think every woman has a favorite hair style that makes her feel confident and beautiful.  For me, it's wavy curls!  

Step 1: In the shower, I used the Triple Moisture Cream Lather Shampoo & Daily Deep Conditioner.  Both products gave an intense moisture to my hair and the scent is amazing. 

Step 2: Next in the shower, I applied the Deep Recovery Mask to my ends.  This is a great treatment to use weekly especially for extra dry and over-processed color treated hair.  I love how smooth my hair was after getting out of the shower. 

Step 3 & 4: After showering, I applied the Silk Touch Leave-In Cream to my wet hair focusing mostly on the ends.  This really helps manage frizzies and helps to smooth out those damaged strands.  

Step 5: After applying the cream, I brush my hair with a paddle brush to get out all of the knots and prep for drying.  

Step 6:  Time to blow dry!  Since I am curling my hair, I don't blow dry with a round brush.  I just want to make sure that my hair is as dry as possible so the curls will hold.  

This is pretty much how I feel every time I have to tame my mane lol 

Step 7:  After my hair is dry, I separate to start the curling process.  I always start with the bottom half first and work my way up. 

Step 8: I use a 1-1/2" wand from Remington and always use it at it's highest temperature (410).  I hold the wand down, wrap my hair around in an outward motion and hold for about 10-15 seconds.  

Step 9 & 10: I continue this process until all of the pieces are curled always going section by section with the wand down.  

Step 11 & 12: Since I'm going for more of a wavy curl look, I like to separate the curls with my fingers.  It creates more volume and won't make your hair look "too curled."  I do this all around my head and then use hair spray. 

The end result! I have to say that usually when I curl my hair right after washing it, it doesn't hold as well.  But styling my hair before with these products really helped to keep the curls.  Overall, I really do like these products and will continue to use them. They didn't make my hair dry or greasy as some hair products tend to do. They make my hair smell so good and look shiny and healthy.  It's so much more manageable to style now :)

Bold Color Block

I unintentionally created a patriotic theme with today's look or I guess you can say I channelled my inner super woman!  Blue is such a huge color trend this season and I couldn't help but pair it with red.  It's one of my favorite color combos.

Initially I was thinking of doing a more toned down look with these blue skinnies, but it's been awhile since I did some bold color blocking.  It was so beautiful out when I wore this so this boyfriend cardigan was the perfect layering piece.  In addition to blazers and moto jackets, I think cardigans are a definite must have for the fall season. These are the type of pants that I highly suggest wearing a top that is long enough in the front if you know what I mean!  Thankfully this tank was the perfect length.  I thought that the white on top and bottom created a nice balance between the blue and red since both colors are so vibrant.  I finished off the look with a bunch of gold accessories.  I know this color combo might not be for everyone.  Even though I like it, I was a little hesitant at first, but I decided to just go for it! What are some of your favorite colors to pair together or do you shy away from color blocking?

Hello Yellow

Happy Monday & Happy Columbus Day! I wore this outfit to an event last week for X-Rated Fusion's new flavor, Tropix.  The whole theme was based around the color yellow.  Then afterwards I celebrated a friend's birthday at Dos Caminos.  It was such a fun night!

I have definitely lost count of how many times I have worn this yellow blazer since I bought it over a year ago.  I'm actually surprised that it's still in such great condition.  These are the types of pieces that I prefer to invest more money in.  When it comes to items that I will wear only once or twice, I don't see the point in spending a lot of money on them.  Zara has always been one of my favorite stores but I always have to drive out of the way to get to the one closest to my house.  I definitely need to make a trip there soon though!    

To be honest, I had no idea what I was going to wear until 20 minutes before leaving.  I only knew that I wanted to wear yellow and this gorgeous necklace from Prima Donna.  After trying on what seemed to be almost everything in my closet, I just started piecing a few things together and this is what I ended up with.  I wore this skirt only once before and this top is the same one from my Leopard & Leather post, just the other side of it.  I always used to buy something new when I had an event to attend, but lately I have just been trying to work with what I have.  It's crazy how many different outfit combinations we can make with the pieces that are already hanging in our closets!
